 Variable Leaf Milfoil

Variable leaf milfoil is an invasive species that has the ability to grow extremely thick and out compete native plant and animal species. It will grow into dense colonies and restrict activities like swimming, boating, fishing, and can negatively impact lake front property values.  What makes milfoil so successful at invading and outcompeting native species, is the fact that the plant itself is very brittle and breaks apart easy.  Once a plant fragments it can settle to the bottom, take root and grow an entirely new plant.
